Election Readiness: DG CRPF Reviews SSB Security Facilities in Darjeeling Ahead of Polls
DARJEELING, April 09, 2026: In a move to ensure foolproof security for the upcoming electoral process, the Director General of the CRPF, G.P. Singh, conducted a high-level visit to the D Company of the Adhoc 704 Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) stationed at Phansidewa Krishak Bazar.
During the inspection, the DG meticulously reviewed the operational facilities and logistics available to the personnel deployed in the region. Engaging in a formal ‘Sainik Sammelan’ or *samvad* with the troops, he reiterated the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) strict mandate for conducting free, fair, and transparent elections, urging the officers and jawans to maintain the highest levels of professional integrity and vigilance.
The visit emphasized the critical role of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in upholding democratic values through a robust security framework. Following the operational review and briefing, the DG participated in a high tea and an informal interaction with the troops, providing an opportunity to boost morale and address any field-level challenges directly with the personnel.
This strategic visit underscores the coordinated effort between various security wings to maintain peace and order in Darjeeling, ensuring a secure environment for voters and election officials alike.
