IGI Airport Anti-Hijacking Drill 2026: CISF and NSG Enhance Aviation Security Preparedness
NEW DELHI, April 9, 2026 — Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport successfully executed its Annual Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise for 2026, a high-intensity simulation designed to test and refine the airport’s response to critical security threats.
Conducted under the expert supervision of Babu Ram, DIG/CASO, ASG Delhi, the drill involved the full activation of designated emergency command centers. The exercise followed a realistic simulation of a hijacking scenario, adhering strictly to the established contingency plans to ensure that all security protocols are functional and effective in a real-world crisis.
The operation showcased a high level of inter-agency synergy, bringing together a diverse group of key stakeholders including the National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Supporting roles were played by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) teams, medical professionals, and various airline representatives.
The CISF’s Quick Reaction Team (QRT), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and the Dog Squad demonstrated exceptional promptness and synchronization during the response.
This collaborative effort reaffirms the airport’s robust readiness to tackle evolving aviation security challenges and ensures the safety of millions of passengers.
