LEH, LADAKH – April 6, 2026
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, conducted a comprehensive visit to the University of Ladakh’s Taru Campus today, emphasizing a strategic roadmap to establish the region as a premier destination for higher education.

During his visit, the LG engaged in high-level interactions with faculty and students while reviewing cutting-edge research facilities, including a live demonstration of Ladakh-specific Modelling and Space Applications (LAMA).

He also inspected the Forensic Science Laboratory, which showcased advanced techniques in sample collection and on-the-spot testing. Addressing the academic community, the LG underscored the urgent need to strengthen local educational infrastructure to curb the migration of Ladakhi students to other states, asserting that the University has the immense potential to evolve into a world-class institution.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to institutional growth, LG Saxena assured the University of full support in upgrading infrastructure, promoting forensic sciences, and transitioning the campus into a “Green University.”

The vision aims to foster a hub of evidence-based research and academic excellence that creates sustainable opportunities for local youth.

Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, the LG also participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative by planting a sapling in memory of his mother. To further the campus’s ecological transformation, he gifted 100 saplings of bamboo and flowering trees, including Gulmohar, Amaltas, and Jacaranda, signaling a shared dedication to making the University of Ladakh a greener, more vibrant center of learning.
