GUWAHATI, March 19, 2026 — In a proactive move to ensure a peaceful and transparent democratic process, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has joined forces with the Assam Police to conduct intensive security drills across the state.
With the Assam Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026, dedicated SSB personnel are currently carrying out rigorous vehicle inspections and high-visibility flag marches in various sensitive zones.
These joint operations are specifically designed to deter anti-social elements and foster a sense of security among voters, ensuring that the upcoming single-phase election remains fair and free from intimidation.
The SSB, known for its unwavering commitment to national security, reaffirmed its role in upholding India’s democratic integrity by maintaining a state of constant readiness.
By deploying specialized units to assist local law enforcement, the force aims to facilitate a smooth polling experience for the 126 constituencies of Assam.
Officials stated that these heightened surveillance measures will continue until the conclusion of the electoral process, as part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order and guarantee a peaceful environment for every citizen to exercise their right to vote.
