AMRITSAR, Feb 8: In a significant crackdown on trans-border smuggling, the Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully intercepted a massive consignment of narcotics and weaponry.
During the joint operation, security forces recovered 25 kg of Heroin, two pistols, and 60 rounds of live ammunition. Two suspects, residents of the Ghogha area under the Bhindi Saidan Police Station, were apprehended at the scene for their alleged involvement in the illicit trade.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the recovery is linked to an organized cross-border smuggling module that utilizes drone technology to transport contraband across the international boundary.
Authorities believe this seizure has dealt a major blow to the logistical capabilities of narco-terror networks operating in the region. The police are currently working to trace both the forward and backward linkages of this module to identify the kingpins and local distributors involved in the network.
An FIR has been formally registered, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to dismantle the remaining cells of the syndicate. This successful operation reinforces the Punjab Police’s commitment to its “Zero Tolerance” policy against drugs and its ongoing mission to secure the border against narco-terrorist activities.
