NONEY, Feb 8: To commemorate the selfless service and ultimate sacrifice of its personnel, the Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on February 7, 2026, at Noney, Manipur.
The event was held to pay profound homage to nine bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty nearly six decades ago.
The ceremony honored the memory of Sub Hare Rana, Rfn Tej Bahadur Gurung, Rfn Jang Bahadur Thakuri, Rfn Jai Bahadur Tamang, Rfn Krishan Bahadur Chhetri, Rfn Gyan Singh, Rfn Man Bahadur Chhetri, Rfn Prem Bahadur Chhetri, and Rfn Dal Bahadur Thapa, all of whom made the supreme sacrifice on February 7, 1967, during operations at Hnachang, Mizoram.
The proceedings were conducted with full military decorum and deep solemnity, reflecting the high esteem in which the force holds its martyrs.
Officers and personnel gathered to salute the unwavering commitment, valor, and dedication displayed by these soldiers. By revisiting the legacy of the 1967 heroes, the Assam Rifles reaffirmed its ethos of “Sentinels of the Northeast,” ensuring that the courage of those who fought for the nation’s integrity continues to inspire future generations of service members.
