RAJOURI, January 20, 2026 — In a stringent move to curb illegal activities and traffic violations, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta, has disqualified the driving licences (DLs) of nine individuals and suspended four vehicle registration certificates (RCs).
This decisive action primarily targets persons accused of involvement in drug trafficking under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Acting on specific recommendations from the District Police, the ARTO disqualified six DLs and suspended four RCs belonging to vehicle owners and drivers linked to narcotics cases.
This joint initiative between the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) and local law enforcement aims to dismantle the logistics of drug distribution by ensuring that vehicles are not misused for criminal enterprises.
In addition to the narcotics-related crackdown, the ARTO disqualified four more driving licences for serious violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and its associated safety rules. ARTO Rajesh Gupta emphasized that these enforcement measures are part of an ongoing strategy to enhance public safety and uphold the rule of law within the district.
He issued a stern warning to habitual traffic offenders and those endangering public life, stating that strict monitoring will continue in close coordination with the police.
The Motor Vehicles Department has urged all drivers and vehicle owners to strictly adhere to legal norms, reiterating that any participation in unlawful activities will result in immediate and stringent legal consequences.
