JAMMU, December 29, 2025: The sporting landscape of Jammu & Kashmir reached a new milestone today with the grand inauguration of the 17th Junior Roll Ball National Championship at the Maulana Azad Stadium Skating Rink. Scheduled to run until January 1, 2026, the prestigious event was officially opened by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, alongside Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma and Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister.
The dignitaries highlighted that hosting such large-scale national events reflects the region’s rapidly growing sports ecosystem and its capability to provide world-class infrastructure for young athletes.
Addressing the gathering of nearly 600 players and officials from 26 States and Union Territories, Surinder Kumar Choudhary emphasized that the championship positions Jammu as a vibrant sporting destination characterized by cultural diversity and warm hospitality.
Satish Sharma noted that sports have become a vital tool for discipline and peace, projecting a positive image of the Union Territory across India. During the ceremony, the administration also felicitated international gold medalists Suvidha Sareen and Hiteshwar Singh for their recent triumphs at the Roll Ball World Cup.
Organized by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the J&K Roll Ball Association, the tournament stands as a significant step toward national integration and the promotion of junior-level sports excellence.
