Poonch Police Launch Major Crackdown: Six Long-Term Absconders Apprehended by Surankote Police
POONCH, DECEMBER 29: In a decisive enforcement drive aimed at addressing long-pending criminal cases, the Surankote Police Station successfully apprehended six absconders who had been evading the law for several years.
The operation, conducted by dedicated teams from PS Surankote, involved meticulous surveillance and the tracking of movements across various locations to execute pending warrants against individuals involved in serious offenses. Among those arrested are Mohd Arif, wanted since 2002 for assault; Zakir Hussain, involved in a 2009 case of house trespass and assault; and Mohd Aslam, linked to a 2008 incident involving grievous hurt.
The police also successfully tracked down Burjo and Mohd Afzal, both of whom were wanted in connection with separate arson and rioting cases from 2012, as well as Nazir Ahmed, who had been evading arrest since 2014 for house trespass and causing hurt.Following their capture, all six individuals were taken into custody and are scheduled to be produced before a competent court of law for further legal proceedings as per due process.
The District Police Poonch has emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities, affirming that offenders will be relentlessly pursued regardless of how much time has passed since their crimes were committed.
Authorities stated that these focused drives against habitual offenders and absconders will continue across the district to uphold the rule of law and strengthen public safety. Furthermore, the police have urged the general public to assist in these efforts by sharing credible information regarding criminal elements, promising that the identity of any informant will remain strictly confidential.
