AIZAWL, Dec 24, 2025 — In a landmark ceremony held at the 34 Assam Rifles camp in Zokhawsang, Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) officially unfurled the state’s tallest National Flag, standing at a monumental height of 108 feet. Accompanied by Mizoram Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga, the Governor highlighted the historic significance of the event, noting that the inauguration of the Tricolour on Christmas Eve symbolizes a unique blend of harmony, hope, and national unity. Positioned to be visible across the capital city of Aizawl, the Governor lauded the Assam Rifles and the Flag Foundation of India for their efforts, stating that the flag serves as a permanent reminder of the core constitutional values of integrity, equality, and duty.
During the event, Governor Singh emphasized that the National Flag acts as a unifying force, encouraging the youth of Mizoram to contribute toward the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga echoed these sentiments, remarking that the Tricolour honors the sacrifices of the freedom struggle while instilling a renewed sense of patriotism in the community. The ceremony featured addresses from Major General Ashim Kohli of the Flag Foundation of India and a video message from the foundation’s Chairman, Naveen Jindal. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Brigadier Pushpendar Sorayan, attended by high-ranking civil and military officials, ex-servicemen, and local students, all gathered to witness this new symbol of state and national pride.
