49 Bn CRPF Celebrates 57th Raising Day in Srinagar; Honors Legacy of Gallantry

Srinagar January 16, 2026 — The 49 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), stationed at Balgarden, Karan Nagar, celebrated its 57th Raising Day with a series of commemorative events at the Unit Headquarters on Thursday.

The milestone anniversary began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, where Commandant Arvind Kumar Solanki paid rich tributes to the fallen heroes at the Martyrs Memorial. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by the battalion’s personnel in the line of duty and reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to national security.

During the event, Commandant Arvind Kumar Solanki commended all ranks for their selfless service and exceptional performance, particularly highlighting their successful deployment during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

Since its inception, the 49 Bn has earned a prestigious reputation for valor, boasting an impressive array of honors including one Kirti Chakra (Posthumously), two President’s Police Medals for Gallantry, and two Police Gallantry Medals.

The Commandant urged the troops to maintain their high standards of operational readiness to meet evolving security challenges and ensure continued peace within Srinagar city.

The celebrations also featured a vibrant cultural program performed by the unit’s jawans, showcasing India’s diverse heritage through Bihu, Bhangra, and Rajasthani folk dances. A unique yoga performance set to the Shiva Tandava Stotram and a thematic skit also drew widespread applause.

Chief Guest Sudhir Kumar, DIG (Ops) North Range CRPF, felicitated the performers and extended his greetings to the battalion and their families. The event saw participation from senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including the SSP Ganderbal, and representatives from several sister CRPF battalions.
